Capital Air Ambulance is growing. Following the acquisition of new aircraft we are looking for additional medical professionals to join the team, as well as office support team members with European language capabilities.


Office team

Capital is currently looking for someone with one or more European languages to join our office team.

Essential requirements:

  • One or more European languages (Preferably French or Spanish)
  • Language Degree, or other relevant Translation/Interpreting qualification.
  • Previous experience in an office environment
  • Confidence with Microsoft office
  • Flexible to work during the week or weekends
  • Ability to multitask

Desirable but not essential requirements:

  • Aviation/Travel and tourism background

ICU Doctors

Capital is looking for experienced ICU-qualified doctors.

Essential requirements

  • Full and unrestricted registration in the United Kingdom
  • At least 5 years post-registration practice
  • Primary postgraduate examination in either anaesthesia, emergency medicine or acute medicine
  • At least 2 years post-registration experience in a critical care environment with confidence and familiarity with transportation of ventilated and inotrope/pressor-dependent patients.
  • Currently working in a critical care environment and able to continue working in ICU on at least part-time basis to ensure skills currency
  • Currency with ALS and BLS within the past 3 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and commitment
  • Good health record
  • Physical fitness for aeromedical work
  • CRB clearance

Desirable but not essential requirements

  • Previous experience in aeromedical transportation of critically ill or injured patients
  • Final postgraduate examination in either anaesthesia, emergency medicine or acute medicine
  • Postgraduate qualification in intensive care medicine, such as the European Diploma in ICM, the UK Diploma in ICM or any other similar qualification which is deemed acceptable by the Medical Director
  • Accreditation, CCST or CCT in intensive care medicine
  • CCAT basic course, or equivalent
  • ATLS or similar course within past 5 years
  • APLS, EPLS or similar course in past 5 years
  • Ability to work efficiently under stressful conditions

ICU Nurses

Capital is looking for qualified ICU nurses.

Essential requirements

  • Full and unrestricted registration in the United Kingdom
  • RCN membership
  • At least 3 years experience at staff nurse level or above
  • At least 2 years experience in a critical care environment with confidence and familiarity in transportation of ventilated and inotrope/pressor-dependent patients
  • Currently able to work in ICU on a full or part-time basis to ensure skills currency
  • Resuscitation training (e.g. ALS, ILS) within the past 3 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm and commitment
  • Good health record
  • Physical fitness for aeromedical work
  • CRB clearance

Desirable but not essential criteria

  • Previous experience in aeromedical transportation of critically ill or injured patients
  • Approved and accredited ICU course qualification
  • CCAT basic (foundation level) course, or equivalent
  • Ability to work efficiently under stressful conditions

Operations Controller - Exeter Airport

Capital Air Ambulance Limited have an exciting opportunity for an Operations Controller to join their team based at Exeter Airport. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will work for the Operations Department of Capital Air Ambulance which is manned 24 hours / 7 days a week. Staff are rostered to work shifts patterns 365 days a year. These patterns are normally split between Day and Night. 4 days, 4 rest days, 4 nights on 12-hour shifts.

Main responsibilities of the role are to ensure smooth operation of flight programme, administration, planning and monitoring all aspects, to include:

  • Monitoring of all company aircraft movements;
  • Carry out Flight Planning functions for all aircraft types throughout the world
  • Monitor and maintain log of crew hours to ensure compliance with Flight Time Limitations
  • Check completed Journey logs, disseminate post flight paperwork, Fuel receipts to accounts.
  • Liaise with third parties such as handling agents, Air Traffic Control
  • File Air Traffic Control Flight plans and delay, change, cancel as required;
  • Monitoring of weather reports for all operations
  • Preparation of daily crew paperwork
  • Book/Ensure booked crew hotel and travel requirements;
  • Manning of company telephones and preparing of quotations;

Ground Support Crew Team Member

Are you looking for a new and exciting role in general aviation within a small, friendly team based in the heart of the South West?

Capital Air Ambulance is the UK’s largest air ambulance operator, based at Exeter Airport and part of the Aviation section within Rigby Group Plc. We own and run a modern fleet of advanced air and ground ambulances that are equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, enabling us to undertake emergency medical repatriations from major UK, European and long-haul locations across the world. Our multi-lingual medevac team includes emergency, critical care and other specialist doctors and nurses, highly trained pilots and operations staff based at Exeter and Birmingham.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Ground Support Crew provide a wide range of aircraft and ground ambulance general maintenance tasks, such as:

  • Preparing vehicles and aircraft for departure, including internal and external cleaning, refuelling, assisting with loading of medical equipment, patients, luggage and catering supplies
  • Aircraft marshalling, towing and connecting ground power units
  • Meeting, greeting and escorting passengers
  • Daily checks of hanger equipment, stocks of oil, fuel, oxygen and other supplies.
  • General maintenance of company vehicles, hangar, buildings and surrounding areas
  • Receiving delivered and driving company vehicles to other company bases to pick up spares or equipment

This role works on a 4 days on/4 days off shift pattern 07:00 – 19:00 across 365 days per year, and attracts a salary of £20,400.00 per annum.

A full and preferably clean UK driving licence is required, as driving company vehicles will form part of this role.
